Course Details
The honours program offers a rigorous examination of a particular subject area for those who desire a more specialized undergraduate preparation. This is the preferred program for students who wish to continue their education at the graduate level. Students normally enter the program after first year, although you may be eligible to enter the program later in your undergraduate studies. To earn a BA Honours degree, a student must successfully complete 120 credit hours with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 in all courses. Students in the honours program do not complete a major and a minor, but rather an honours subject, or two subjects in the case of a double honours program. The program differs from the advanced program by requiring more courses in the honours field and by providing a greater intensity and depth of study. Students should apply to enter the honours program only after successfully completing a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework.

The Bachelor of Commerce degree provides a broad-based general business education and the opportunity to specialize in one or two majors. Students admitted to the Asper School of Business are required to complete 120 credit hours to complete the Bachelor of Commerce degree. The 120 credit hours are divided into five components: Track 1: All students must complete the specified Track 1 course requirements. These courses are usually done in the first year of the program. Core courses: All students are required to complete the core, which consists of 54 credit hours of specified mandatory courses from all four departments in Asper as well as courses taught by other departments. The majority of the core courses are taken in Years 2 and 3 of the program. Double major: The program allows students to major in two disciplines. Students will normally choose one or two majors at the beginning of the third year of the program, following completion of many of the core courses, which introduce the disciplines that students can major in. Options: A required number of business courses taught by Asper. Students are required to complete 15 credit hours of options. Options can supplement your major, or you may prefer to broaden your educational base by selecting business courses from other majors. Electives: 12 credit hours of courses from faculties other than Asper.
