This program will have specialized learning opportunities that will teach them to advocate for patients, and offer comfort and care from within a comprehensive healthcare system. Students will dive into a profession that includes an exciting blend of science, mathematics, psychology, anthropology, organizational management, and sociology. In this program, students will: Learn the foundations of nursing including health, professional caring, healing, determinants of health, relational practice, and professional growth. Benefit from a faculty with a variety of nursing experience and expertise, a state-of-the-art clinical learning lab, and a world-class library. Take part in the larger university community and benefit from the expertise of many other disciplines such as midwifery, human kinetics, social work, and medicine. The Laurentian University Baccalaureate Nursing Program, English is approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (www.cno.org). Current graduates from this program are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario.

The philosophy of the Laurentian University McEwen School of Architecture is founded upon pride of place. This philosophy embraces the resiliency of northern people and the unique beauty of the northern Ontario landscape. Located at the crossroads of the City of Greater Sudbury in the downtown core, Canada’s first new architecture curriculum in over 45 years opened at Laurentian University in 2013. The McEwen School of Architecture is an unfolding experiment in emerging pedagogies and diverse cultures. The study of architecture generally raises our awareness of the holistic and aesthetic nature of the design of the built environment. Architecture students take electives on the main Laurentian University campus, while Design Studio and other mandatory architecture courses are held at the McEwen School of Architecture, Laurentian's downtown site. The University's French, English, Métis, and Anishinabek faculty and student body is unique to Laurentian’s tri-cultural mandate; conducting design studios in both French a nd English, as well as working with Elders and guests who are First Nations and Métis, provides a further array of cultural and educational perspectives

Through this program, students will apply their knowledge to solve complex operations to everyday computer-based applications. Students will study a wide range of subjects from theory and math to cutting-edge developments in robotics, computer vision, intelligent systems, bioinformatics, and other exciting areas. Students will also learn the fundamentals of computer science such as high-level programming language, discrete mathematical structures, data structures, LINUX operating system, database programming, programming in C++, and assembly language. Students can further focus on their area of interest such as computer organization, software engineering, programming languages, operating systems, networking, information systems and databases, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, web databases, data mining, web intelligence, computer security, and human and computer interaction.

Through the help of this program, students will learn to lead, control, and operate in a major company or use their knowledge to launch a start-up of their own. Flexible and available on a full-time or part-time basis, the BBA program emphasizes core management education to provide students with all the necessary business knowledge and skillsets. By the end of the program, graduates will be able to effectively lead, control, and operate contemporary organizations. Students will have the opportunity to participate in case competitions around the North and across Canada to showcase their management skills. Small class sizes and accessible professors are key components to student success. Students can take advantage of international exchange opportunities to broaden their understanding of the global business environment.

Students will take full advantage of Sudbury’s idyllic location and Laurentian University’s full depth of mining, environmental, mechanical and mechatronic engineering expertise to study resource management processes. A global centre for mining technology and research, Sudbury is the site of the world’s largest mineral exploration and mining-service clusters in the world. It is home to two of the world’s deepest mines and is the corporate headquarter for numerous multinational mining companies. Ravaged for decades by industrial pollution, it has since been recognized by the United Nations for its widely celebrated remediation and rehabilitation success story, now referenced as the Sudbury Protocol. The world now turns to Sudbury for environmental solutions. Laurentian’s proximity to the mining operations of Vale, Glencore, Kidd Creek, Hemlo, Red Lake, Goldcorp, Placer Dome, and mines in northwestern Quebec, as well as E.B. Eddy’s large scale wood processing facilities at Espanola, make it a natural laboratory for the study of environmental impact, management and ecological recovery issues.

In the Computational Sciences (M.Sc.) program, students will learn the theories, mathematics, and applications behind computer science. Students will find solutions to many real-world problems using cutting-edge developments and tools. This degree will provide students with countless opportunities in expanding fields. Whether that be software engineering, scientific computation, and many more.

The program consists of core courses in social policy, social work practice and research methods, in addition to selected professional electives, and graduate research in the form of a thesis or advanced practicum. Working holistically while recognizing and advancing human rights, students will have the opportunity to respond to those in need in order to promote social change and justice. Students will build on their knowledge and experience in direct or indirect social work practice and social welfare analysis, reflecting the interests, resources, population, and social conditions of Northern Ontario. Students will benefit from an academically challenging environment, small class sizes, and wonderful opportunities to work closely with faculty members and peers.
